George Eliot Wakeman, 74, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on November 14, 1949, to Andrew and Violet "Gail" Wakeman. George was married to Bridget Carla Norris Wakeman for 7 years. George had a career in the military with the United States Army and law enforcement for Elyria Police Department, Ohio. George was a member of Marcus Pointe Baptist Church, Panhandle British Car Organization, Pensacola Softball Officials Association, and Elyria Area Umpires Association. George had a passion for youth sports, British cars and God/Country Guidance.
George was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Eliot Wakeman and his mother, Violet "Gail" Wakeman.
George is survived by his wife, Bridget Carla Wakeman; daughter, Carrie Morrow (Russ); daughter, Michelle Andujar; daughter, Trisha Stratton (Ryan); son, Brad Eliot Wakeman (Andrea); daughter, Claire Godwin; grandchildren, Joseph, Audrey, Nevalene and Osi; sisters, Linda Wakeman, Nancy Matschke, Susan Goree (Ned), and Priscilla Jennings (John).
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 18, 2024, at 3:17 PM, (his badge number), at Busch Funeral Home, 114 2nd Street, Elyria, OH. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnels to Tower Foundation.

A true friend, from the first time we met. A proud father, and grandfather. I was amazed at how well and easily he stepped in for Claire.
Always, busy, always helpful, always planning, always patient. A straight shooter who didn't beat around the bush...I appreciated his honesty, and that he was quick to laugh it off in those more serious moments. I am so thankful that you brought him and his children into our lives, Carla. Kenny has been lost without him. We will both miss him very much. It is comforting knowing his faith was so strong and now his pain is gone. He's received his own Hallmark-happy-ending and is in the presence of his Savior, Jesus.
Our prayers and most sincere condolences to the entire family.
