George Alexander Wall, affectionately known to family and friends as Sandy, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in
Greensboro, North Carolina. Born on February 14, 1948, in
Charleroi, Pennsylvania, George lived a full and vibrant life of 77 years.
George's journey began in Charleroi, where his passion for cooking blossomed early. This led him to pursue formal training at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, from which he graduated in the early 1970s. Shortly after, he served his country with honor in the American Army for four years, a period that further shaped his character and resolve.
After his military service, George returned to his first love-cooking. He dedicated over 40 years to the culinary industry, delighting countless patrons with his culinary skills. He worked in various esteemed restaurants until the age of 62, earning a reputation as a chef of remarkable talent and dedication.
Beyond his professional achievements, George was a devoted family man. He married his beloved wife Charlotte, and together they shared 43 wonderful years. He was a loving father to his daughter Leah Shepherd, whom he cherished dearly. George's love for his family extended to his role as an enthusiastic participant in his grandchildren's lives, often attending events and supporting their endeavors with pride.
George was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, finding joy in cheering on his favorite team. His warm spirit and kind heart touched everyone who knew him, and his legacy of love and hard work will not be forgotten.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Leah and George Wesley Wall, and his son-in-law, Garry D. Shepherd Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Charlotte, his daughter Leah, and his cherished grandchildren Savannah, Kaylee, Ryan, and Caleb. He is also remembered by his brother Dwight Wall (Janice) and numerous family members and friends.
In accordance with George's wishes, the family will hold a private gathering at a later date to celebrate his life. Those who wish to honor George's memory may make donations to assist the family during this difficult time.
George will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved.
