Georgia Fitsalos

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Georgia Fitsalos, age 87. Georgia fell asleep in the Lord on January 1st, 2025.
Beloved wife of George Fitsalos for 64 years. Loving mother to Chris Fitsalos and Nick (Soula) Fitsalos. Proud grandmother to George and Christina Fitsalos. Devoted daughter of the late John (Kalliopi) Zervas. Dear sister to Athanasia (Steve) Mihalopoulos, Eleni ( Nick) Karabatsos, Nick Zervas, George (Nitsa) Zervas,the late Peter Zervas, and the late Kostadinos Zervas. Fond aunt to MANY nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece.
Georgia was an incredibly loving, caring, and selfless mother, grandmother, wife, aunt and sister who cherished her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Her warmth and kindness knew no bounds. An exceptional cook, Georgia took great joy in preparing Sunday dinners and hosting many holiday celebrations for her loved ones. She was also famous for her homemade tiropites (cheese pies), always ready to serve them to unexpected guests with a smile. Beyond the kitchen, Georgia had a passion for gardening and tended to her beautiful garden with great love, particularly nurturing her cherished roses. For 35 years, she worked as a seamstress at Hart Schaffner & Marx, a job she truly loved. Georgia's legacy of devotion and generosity will be deeply missed by her family and many friends in the United States, Greece, Australia, and Canada.
Visitation from 10:00-10:30 AM on Friday, January 10th, 2025 at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 East Dempster Street, Des Plaines, Illinois. Funeral service immediately to follow at 10:30 AM. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery and Mausoleum in River Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations for Georgia may be made to Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church.
