Georgia Hange, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Services will be at Longview Funeral Home on October 31 with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and the Service following at 12:00 p.m. Contributions in honor of Georgia can be made to the benevolence fund of Blue River Bible Church, her most beloved church home.
Georgia was born in 1936 on the island of Kalymnos, Greece, to George and Maria Hatsismalis. She was the second of eight children, and as the oldest daughter, she shouldered responsibilities of farm work and providing loving care for her younger siblings, who fondly remember her as a second mother. Her adult life took her first to Australia and eventually to the Greek community in Youngstown, Ohio, to marry Michael Nick Hange, the son of Greek immigrants. They remained together for over 50 years until his passing in 2021.
Her children, Maria and Timothy, remember her as a loving, joyous mother and a resilient woman who survived much adversity due to her remarkable internal strength, resourcefulness, and unshakable Christian faith. Her Greek cooking was legendary, providing enjoyment to her family and friends as well as to the general public through her enterprises in farmers' markets, and her own restaurants.
Georgia Hange, the dear mother, is survived by her daughter Maria Hange Romanas, and husband John; her son Timothy and wife Karen.
Georgia Hange, the cherished “Yiayia”, is survived by her grandchildren, Christos Romanas, Timothy Romanas, Peter Romanas and his wife Sierra, Alisha Hange Joyce and her husband Andrew, Stephen Hange and his wife Rebekah, Anastasia Hange, and Evan Hange and his wife Kelsey. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Izayah, Zion, Jasper, and Hallelujah.
