In remembrance of Georgia Louise McCarthy. Georgia Louise McCarthy, age 84, of Cayucos, California passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Garden House in Morro Bay. She was born on July 25, 1941, in Reno, Nevada to the late Alanson Arthur (A.A.) and Zelma Gibeaut. She was raised in Oakland, California with her three younger brothers and spent many summers in Reno and Elko, Nevada with extended family. Georgia graduated from Oakland High School and then UC Berkeley. She met Phil McCarthy in Visalia, California while working for Southern California Gas Company and they were married on April 3, 1965 in Oakland. After working for Southern California Gas Company, Georgia worked for Volt Energy, then co- founded a catering company called Cuisine on Call, and finished her career as a Food Service Coordinator with the Tulare County Office of Education, Head Start program. After raising their three kids in Visalia with countless visits to Cayucos, they retired to Cayucos. She enjoyed many hobbies during her life such as macrame, sewing, cultivating an extensive herb garden, hand crafting wreaths from dried herbs and soap-making. Georgia had a great laugh and smile and was known to be the one responsible for organizing and planning for any vacation or event. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, A.A. and Zelma Gibeaut, and her brother Robert (Bob) Gibeaut. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Phil McCarthy; brothers Frank Gibeaut and Bill Gibeaut; daughter Shelly McCarthy and husband Andrew Leary; son Micheal McCarthy; son Matt McCarthy and wife Jennifer West McCarthy; and four grandkids. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. Georgia will be interred at the Cayucos Cemetery. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Georgia's caregivers at the Garden House in Morro Bay for their compassion and dedication to her care. Memorial contributions may be made to the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden (https://slobg.org/donate-now/) where Georgia served as a docent for several years.
