Georgia Mae Negri, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on April 5, 2025. Born on February 23, 1929, in Salida, Colorado, Georgia lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedicated service to her family and community.
Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Clarine Gunsolus, her siblings Vernon and Ann, and her beloved husband Robert J. Negri, Georgia leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and passion.
Georgia discovered her love for gardening, skiing, golfing, and baking early in life and brought an unmistakable energy to everything she pursued. She met her husband Robert while attending the University of Denver, where they fell in love. The couple married in 1949, and after graduating, Georgia began her career at an accounting firm.
Later in life, after raising her four children, Georgia returned to school to study computer science, forging a successful second career at Consumers Power in Michigan. Upon retiring to Colorado Springs with Robert, Georgia immersed herself in her church, Chapel of Our Saviour, and community, volunteering extensively at a local thrift shop and her beloved church. In their retirement, Georgia and Robert also embraced their shared passion for foreign travel, exploring the world together with a sense of wonder and adventure.
Her family was her greatest joy. Georgia is survived by her four children: Daniel, Charlene, David, and Damon; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her warmth and spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on June 7, 2025 at 2pm at the Chapel of Our Saviour Episcopal Church, 8 4th Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chapel of Our Saviour in Colorado Springs in her honor.
