Georgia "Peggy" Ray, 87, of Richmond, KY passed away on September 29, 2025. Peggy was born on July 10, 1938, in Richmond, and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Madison Central High School, Class of 1956. That same year she married William "Frankie" Ray. She worked as an administrative assistant at EKU, retiring in 2000.
Peggy had a love for reading, sunbathing, and traveling with her girlfriends. Her family will always remember her fierce love and unwavering support for her friends and family. She was especially known for her love of cooking, making sure everyone had leftovers to take home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie & Hazel Ashcraft, and her son, Daniel Ray. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Frankie Ray, her daughter, Connie Harrison, her brother, Jean Ashcraft (Jane), two grandchildren Sarah Harrison (Bryan) and Josh Ray (Brandi), five great-grandchildren, and countless family members who will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 3:00-6:00 PM at Combs, Parsons, & Collins Funeral Home in Richmond, KY. The funeral service will follow on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Logan Ashcraft, Chad Barnes, Neal Barnes, David Dezarn, Bryan Hart, Damien Lawson-Harrison, Josh Ray, and Rodney Ward.
Honorary Pallbearers: Jimmy Barnes, Skip Marion, Jesse Ward, Jimmy Shane Ward, and Cliff Winkler.
