Georgia Kay Walden, 72, died May 22, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born September 21, 1952, in Hutchinson, to Oliver A. and Ocie Z. (Latham) Smith.
Georgia attended Hutchinson schools. She worked in the office and on the production floor at Phillips News Company for several years before going to work as a customer service representative at Banker's Life Insurance Company for 20 years until she retired in 2022. Georgia loved playing the Hee Haw slot machines at various casinos and celebrating the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas, and making them special for her kids and grandkids.
On January 28, 1972, she married Richard W. Walden, in Hutchinson. He died August 14, 2010.
Georgia is survived by: her son, John Walden of Hutchinson; daughter, Pamela Asche (Tad) of Winfield; grandchildren, Amy Walden (Cody Yingling) of Hutchinson, Shawn Walden of Hutchinson, Dominick Hutchinson (Courtney) of Kansas City, MO, Megan Hutchinson of Kansas City, MO, Zachary Hutchinson (Audrey Ullum) of Hutchinson, Landyn Walden of Hutchinson, Katelyn Mays (Logan) of Winfield, Zachary Klug of Winfield, Sage Piña of Phoenix, AZ, Tyler Walden (Shea) of Bennington, Bret Walden of Bennington; great-grandchildren, Acelyn McPhillips, Madison Yingling, Rhyder Yingling, Daxton Yingling, Collins Mays, Bowen Mays, Nash Walden, Parklynn Walden, Kolter Walden, Kyler Walden, Kaysen Walden, Peyton Moeller; brothers, Frank Smith (Brenda) of Tyler, TX, Karl Smith and Rick Smith (Arlene) of Hutchinson; sisters-in-law, Karen Smith and Connie Smith of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Brenda Koehn of Hutchinson; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son, Wayne "Bud" Walden; brothers, John Smith and Robert "Bob" Smith; and sister-in-law, Shin Smith.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery.
The service will be livestreamed and the link below to view it will be active at 9:45 a.m. the day of the service.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County or Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
