Michael L. McKinney

Michael Lynn McKinney, 70, of Elizabeth, CO, passed away July 26, 2025 at St. Luke's Boise Medical Center, in Boise, Idaho surrounded by his dearest loved ones. Michael was born on February 13, 1955 to Lyle and Julie McKinney in Hutchinson, KS. Michael was the nicest and most loving man you could ever meet. He was deeply loved and greatly respected by everyone in his life. Michael, in early adulthood, farmed in rural Reno County, that was his passion. When his passion did not pay the bills, he turned to construction. Michael traveled the country chasing construction work where he eventually became a Tower Crane Operator. He spent nearly 30 years climbing to his perch high above the world below, where he became one of the best operators in the country. Over his career, Michael helped reshape the Denver skyline one building at a time. When he was not perched on a Tower Crane, Michael loved to hunt, fish and sit by his campfire. Michael is survived by the love of his life Pamela McKinney. They were married on April 18, 1987 in Lerado, KS and have been happily married for 38 years. Additionally, Michael is survived by his two sons, Ethan and Eli McKinney; their wives Alexx and Rawley McKinney. He is also survived by one grandson Shepherd McKinney and one granddaughter, baby McKinney due February 2026 (Eli and Rawley). Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00pm. at Elliott Mortuary. Services will be held 10:30am Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS. Burial will be at Lerado Cemetery in rural Reno County following the service.
