Georgia Faye Williams (Thornton), age 85, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Born on September 26, 1940, in Honobia, Oklahoma, Faye was the beloved daughter of Earl Haskell Thornton and Jessie Lee Ashford Thornton. She spent her early years in Oklahoma before moving to Oregon, where she graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield OR in 1958. Her pursuit of education and faith led her to Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri, where she graduated in 1964.
Faye's life was marked by deep devotion-to her family, her faith, and the simple joys that brought meaning to her days. She married James H. Williams, her college sweetheart, with whom she shared a long and loving partnership. Together they raised three children: Diane Rene (Williams) Brusherd, James David Williams, and Douglas Alan Williams.
Faye found immense joy and fulfillment in motherhood and later as a grandmother. More than any other role or accomplishment, she cherished being a mother and grandmother. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering love left an indelible mark on those closest to her.
A woman of strong Christian faith, Faye was saved at a young age and maintained a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. She often turned to scripture for guidance and comfort, frequently quoting James 1:5 (ESV): "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." This verse reflected not only her belief but also the wisdom she imparted to others throughout her life.
Faye was an avid reader who found solace and inspiration in books. She also loved to cook-her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of meals prepared with care for those she loved. But above all hobbies or pastimes, it was the time spent with her children and grandchildren that brought her the greatest happiness.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, James H. Williams; daughter Diane Rene (Williams) Brusherd, Jon Brusherd, their children Kristin and Scott; James David Williams, Shawna Williams, their children, Joanie and Maggie; and Douglas Alan Williams, Ranelle Williams and their children, Blake, Cooper and Luke; as well as many others who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
Faye's legacy is one of steadfast love, devotion to family and friends and enduring faith. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire lives rooted in faith and family.
