Georgianna J. Ogema, Ginebigoons "Little Snake", of Migizi Dodem "Eagle Clan", age 71, of Bemidji, MN began her spiritual journey on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Neilson Place in Bemidji. She was born on Sunday, February 7, 1954, in Red Lake, the daughter of Marcel Johnson, Sr. and Jane (Redeagle) Johnson.

Georgianna loved to laugh, and she had the best sense of humor. Since the age of eighteen she's worked in various positions which included hat making in the cities, training and orientation for Leech Lake Gaming and other positions where she touched hearts all along the way. It was especially while she was at Leech Lake Gaming that she affected so many people with her beautiful personality. Georgianna loved to travel and no matter where she went in the country there was someone who always knew her and would come up to her to say hi. To many people she was an auntie, sister, mother and grandmother.

Georgianna enjoyed playing bingo, attending pow-wows, going to the casino, reading, cross word puzzles, dancing, watching her programs on Netflix and traveling around the country. She will be lovingly missed by all her family and friends.

The family that Georgianna joins again are her parents, Marcel and Jane; husband, Melvin Ogema, Sr.; son, Birdy Francis; brother, Thomas J. Johnson; sisters, Ruth Martin, and Rose and June Johnson; stepchildren, Melvin "Fred" Ogema, Jr. and Susan "Ogema" Hart; grandchildren, Vance Benais and Paige Brown; sister in-law, Thea Wakonabo, numerous lifelong friends and family.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are sons, Darcy Benais, Joseph Ogema and Calvin; daughters, Anita Johnson, Cecelia, Romelle and Thea Ogema; brother, Marcel Johnson, Jr.; sisters, Beverly and Lois Johnson; daughter in-law, Gina Headbird; brother in-law, Herschel "Mayor"; sister in-laws, Jessie and Audrey; special grandsons, Raymond and Waylon Ogema and Melvin Ogema Bellanger; grandchildren, Arnie, Julius "Paco", Aurora, Emmanuel, Vanessa, Ni-inde "Nel", Chloe, Carlo, Mandi, Paige, Marichella, Darcy, Christianna, Kodi, Ron, Cameo and Clifford; great grandchildren, Carla, Seneca, Maddox and Abbi. Georgianna was taken in as mother and grandmother by many across the country. She knew so many people that the family apologizes ahead of time if they forgot to mention someone special to Georgianna.

A wake for Georgianna will begin at 1:00p.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2025, and will continue until the 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Thursday, September 4,2025,5 all held at the Boys and Girl's Club in Ponemah. Spiritual advisor will be Allen Hardy. Pallbearers will be Severon Gotchie, Matt Carly, Joey Johnson, Raymond Ogema, Bryan Wakonabo, Gary James Nelson, Julius "Paco" Ogema, and Emmanuel Headbird. Alternate pallbearers will be Jason Johnson and Carlo LeGarde. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Fairbanks, Waylon Ogema, Arnie Ogema-Bellanger, Archie LaRose, Ronnie Godfrey, Lonna and Richard Street and Family, and Lonny and Verna Street and Family. Interment will be held in the Johnson Family Burial Grounds following the service.
