Gerald Chester Britton, a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed peacefully into Heaven on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at his home and was surrounded by loved ones. He was 94 years old. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Chaplin Adam Doyle will preside with burial following in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM until the time of service on Saturday. Gerald was born on May 22, 1931, in Valparaiso, Indiana, the son of the late Harry and Rose (Thomas) Britton. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1954. Gerald and Emma Jo were united in marriage on August 14, 1958, in South Bend. Sadly, she preceded him in death on November 4, 2023.
Gerald was employed by the Grand Trunk & Western Railroad for 34 years, where he worked his way up to Supervisor of the Bridge & Building Department before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time garage saling, finding items he could refurbish and sell at their annual garage sale, along with many of his handcrafted wood pieces.
Survivors include his two children, daughter Debra Ranger and her husband Carl; and son Larry and his fiancée Stephanie Dunn; six grandchildren, Cory Ranger, Erik Britton and his wife Lillian, Joshua Ranger and his wife Victoria, Emily Britton, Jordan and Skylar Ranger; 3 great-grandchildren, Racheal Ranger, Kain Britton and Dakota Britton.
