Gerald Thomas Cassidy

Gerald Thomas Cassidy (1943-2025), a Philadelphia native, passed away on Veterans' Day, November 11, 2025. After graduating from West Catholic High School for boys, he proudly served the country as a United States Marine. His career as one of Philadelphia's finest police officers lasted for 33 years.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, "Suzie" Mary D. Miller. Together they raised their children, Mary, Jerry, and Jimmy ( DIL Robin Richards). Grandfather "Pop" to Jerry, Patrick, Justin, Zoie, Peyton, and Ashley. Great-grandfather to Aubrey, Jerry, Gianni, Andrew, Lyla, Christopher, and Cameron.
Born to Leo and Joan Cassidy, he was a proud big brother to Leo, Richard, John, Joan, Paul, Jean, Thomas, Catherine, and Patricia.
As a man of God and honor, he served selflessly for the needs of others. His life was dedicated to his whole family, in-laws, and many cousins that he loved immensely and was so proud of. His adventuresome kind spirit infused the many lives his life touched. From sky diving from helicopters, scuba diving reconnaissance, to running marathons through the city and chasing the "bad" guy on foot, camping, happy bike rides, boating, fishing, floating, surfing and swimming in Cape May he is considered a legend and an example to many. He created so many adventures for all. We will never forget his energetic peaceful generous love for everyone. He will always live in our hearts. Semper Fi!
