Russell J. Meyers, 83, of Wallingford passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Plush Mills Senior Living surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Philadelphia, PA. He was raised in Sharon Hill and attended Monsignor Bonner High School. He continued to live in Sharon Hill where he raised his family and later moved to Drexel Hill in 1976. Russell was a successful businessman and entrepreneur. He established the Russell J Meyers Roofing Company in 1962, and served as President for 55 years. He also had a second home in North Wildwood, NJ where many happy memories were made with family and friends. The doors were always open and many meals were shared.
Russell found great joy in helping others through community service. He was a life member of the Sharon Hill Fire company, where he served as Trustee, Vice President, and President. He served as chair of the parade committee, where he was instrumental in leading the Fire Company to several State Championships. He organized and participated in the annual Christmas tree sales for years. The Tree sale became the primary fund raiser for the company.
Russell was an avid golfer. In his later years he could be found golfing at Majestic Eagle course in Ft Myers Florida, or Wildwood Country Club in New Jersey, or Springhaven Country Club, where he was a lifetime member and served on the board.
Russell was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan. He was an Eagles season ticket holder for over 50 years, where "move them chains" was his famous cheer.
His unwavering love and dedication to family extended to all. His generosity, sense of humor, and positive attitude touched everyone he met. The family requests that we extend the love, generosity, and kindness he exemplified to someone in need.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Cecelia, his three children Cecelia Anderson (Rick), Joseph Meyers (Maria) and James Meyers (Lisa). His grandchildren, Kerri Meyers, James Meyers, Caitlyn Wiley (Jordan), Shawn Anderson (Brittany), Brian Meyers. His Great Grandchildren, Mika, Russell, Madison, and Baby. His Brother William Meyers (Joan) and Ed Orr, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his Grandsons, Joseph Meyers, and Jeremy Anderson. Parents William and Edith Meyers (Jarrett). Siblings, Edith Orr, Mary Ann and Bill Kissane, Robert Meyers, Bob May, and Connie and Wayne Lamond. Brothers and Sisters-in-law Frances Meyers, Charles and Bernadette Attix, and James and Lorraine Noyce.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Sharon Hill Fire Company.
Family and friends are invited to Russell's visitation on Monday November 17th from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. A Prayer Service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.

I've been working in Senior Living for a very long time and every once in awhile there comes a client, in this case clients, who you just can't help loving them. I loved hearing all of Russ' stories. His love for his wife Cecelia was clearly evident. They are both the kindest, loving, most generous people ever. I am going to miss him so much
