Gerald C. Fogg, of Waltham, died Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland. He was 89.
Gerry was born in Waltham on September 4, 1935, a son of the late Davis and Joan (Edmunds) Fogg, and had been a lifelong resident.
He was a proud member of the Waltham Police Department for more than forty years, joining in 1953, and retired from the detective division in April, 1994. Gerry’s affable nature and professional demeanor earned the respect of many friends in the department and in the community.
He had terrific musical talent and led the ‘Gerry Fogg Orchestra’ for years. He knew every Frank Sinatra tune and could swoon for hours to admiring audiences . . . including his granddaughters who called the Frankie tunes, “Papa Music”.
After his retirement from the police force, Gerry embarked on another career. His path led him to Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord where he bartended for another dozen years. His wit and personality played well from that position, where he met and fostered many more friendships that have lasted till this day.
Gerry was also a lifelong sports fan and an avid Boston Bruins follower. He took in as many games at the Garden and Fenway over the years that he could. He and his late wife, Dotty, also enjoyed vacations to Ogunquit, Maine and to Aruba where he shared great times with family and friends.
The husband of the late Dorothy M. (Cincotta) Fogg, he leaves his son, Kevin M. Fogg (Anna) of Norwood; his granddaughters, Stephanie Caldwell (Scott) of Canton and Alayna Gega (Klejvi) of Dorchester; his great-granddaughter, Sophie Caldwell; his brother, Steven Fogg (Kathy) of Waltham and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Gerry was also a brother of the late Richard Fogg.
Family and friends will honor and remember Gerry’s life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, March 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
