Mrs. Pauline F. (Berry) Barry, of Acton, formerly of Waltham, died Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Care Dimensions in Lincoln. She was 97.
Pauline was born in Waltham on July 15, 1928, a daughter of the late Fred and Emmeline Berry. Raised in Waltham, she graduated from Waltham High School.
She worked for 27 years as an office manager at Tenant Insurance company. An expert typist and organizer, Pauline was extremely smart and efficient, making tough decisions seem effortless. She excelled with numbers and, in another era, might well have risen to lead a company. Even at 95, she insisted on preparing her own taxes and handled them with ease.
Pauline married Edward M. Barry on Labor Day weekend, 1949. They were lifelong residents of Waltham before moving to Leominster in 1986. Active in their faith, she volunteered at bingo games for years at Saint Mary’s Church in Waltham and later at Saint Cecelia’s in Leominster. In her younger years, she loved gathering with her extended family for summer vacations in Albany, New Hampshire, where they spent two weeks each summer making countless happy memories together.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward M. Barry; her sisters, Muriel De Felice (Anthony), Marion Algeri (Charles), Mildred Berg (Gilbert), and Helen Dozier (Leroy).
Pauline leaves her children, John D. Barry (Michelle) of Waltham, Kathleen Marchioni (Michael) of Groton, and Janet Barry (late Ron Vokey) of Wayland; her grandchildren, Matthew and Stacia Barry, Morgan DeMella, and Valerie Marchioni; her great-grandchild, Rylee Barry, her brother, Fred Berry, and his wife, Judy, of Hudson; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Pauline’s life by gathering for visiting hours from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday November 17th at Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, before proceeding to Mount Feake Cemetery for her graveside service.
