Mr. Gerald Hanselman age 88 of Clinton Township, passed away on Saturday morning at Safe Acres in Troy. He was born October 9th, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan. Growing up on the east side of Detroit, he loved toy trains and shared his enthusiasm with his brother Ronald. He also loved airplanes and like to spend time at City Airport. He met his wife Mariette of 53 years while working together at a Kroger store at Warren and Connor in Detroit. He apprenticed and later became a journeyman tool and die maker for Soss Corporation. Later he became a design teacher as well as an excellent automotive designer at RCO Corporation. He loved photography, airplanes, car shows and the solitude of his own backyard. He is survived by his son Steve (Suzzanna) Hanselman and his nieces Christine Gelmini and Renea Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a cancer charity of your choice. Visitation will be Thursday, October 17th, 2024 4-8 pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 43300 Garfield Rd., Clinton Township, 48038. Funeral will be Friday, October 18th, 2024 instate at 10:30 am until time of service at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
