Gerald Hoeger Obituary
Gerald H. Hoeger, 91 of Garnavillo, Iowa passed away Monday, August 7, 2023 at Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg, Iowa.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garnavillo.
Funeral Mass will commence at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Marvin Bries will officiate with Rev. Steve Meyer concelebrating. Deacon Ron Meyer will assist.
Gerald was born on February 8, 1932 in Garnavillo, Iowa, the son of Edward and Veronica (Berns) Hoeger. Gerald received his education at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Garnavillo.
Gerald served his country in the Korean War from July, 1952 to April, 1954. After the war, he farmed with his brother, Lambert, until retirement. Gerald's greatest devotion was to his Catholic Faith.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Martha Hoeger, Loretta Hoeger, Irma (Clarence) Meyer, Veronica (John) Hageman; his brothers: Hermie Hoeger, Lambert Hoeger, and Vincent (Inez) Hoeger.
The family would like to thank staff at Garnavillo Assisted Living Center, Guttenberg Care Center, and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care.

My wife recorded on her I-phone my uncle Gerald reciting the whole Gettysburg Address and all 50 states as they were accepted into the union (United States) in late May 2023 when we visited him in the assisted living facility in Garnavillo.
