Gerald Ray Huckaby, affectionately known as "Huck," passed away at the age of 81 on August 17, 2025, in Many, Louisiana. A graduate of Jonesboro Hodge High School and Northwestern State University, where he earned a Master's degree in Education, Gerald dedicated his career to teaching, coaching, and supervising, retiring from the Winn Parish School Board office in 2003.

Gerald was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying hunting in the Kisatchie National Forest and fishing in the lakes of north Louisiana, with Toledo Bend and Saline Lake being his favorites. He cherished the time spent hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons and traveling with his beloved wife, Goldie, while visiting family.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie Bonds Huckaby; his sister, Beckie Thomas; his son, David Huckaby and wife Stacey; Beckie Huckaby (Jay); his step-son, James Cain and wife Angie; his step-daughter, Melissa Milnor; and his grandchildren, Megan Miller, Jay Miller, Rachel Huckaby, John David Huckaby, Wayne Curtis Huckaby, Haley Beth Cain, Julianna Cain, and Amanda Milnor.

Gerald is preceded in death by his son, Jay Huckaby; his brother, James F. Huckaby; and his sister, Billie Jean Mosley.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield, officiated by Bro. Bobby Bates. Interment will follow under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at Southern Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21st from 5-7 pm and again on Friday, August 22nd at 1:00 pm.

Pallbearers include: John David Huckaby, Wayne Curtis Huckaby, Liam Weaver, Rob Little, Ronnie Abels and Sean Abels.
