Gerald Martin McClune 84, of Waseca, MN was surrounded by family at his home when he went "down the road" to meet his Heavenly Father on November 2nd, 2024. Jerry, or Mac as he was known, was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Born on September 20th, 1940 in rural Kilkenny, LeSueur County, Minnesota, he was the son of John and Esther (Spitzack) McClune. Gerald grew up on the family farm outside Kilkenny and then moved to Waseca in the early 1960's. He had a passion for life and enlivened all those who met him. He often exclaimed that life is beautiful.
He married Joan Wobschall and had 3 children. They later divorced. He then married Connie (Schade) Larrabee on March 11th, 1995 at their home in Waseca.
Nothing could slow him down. Not even a corn picker that took most of his hand in 1967 or cardiac arrest in 2016. He worked at Brown Printing Co. for 40 years, started McClune's Tree Service with his sons Wayne and Terry in 1976 with a rope, saw and ladder. He worked those 2 jobs until he retired in 2001 and then continued to tend to his farm chores up until 2 weeks before his passing.
Jerry loved working outdoors on God's little acres. He was most happy after a long fulfilling day of doing farm chores, checking on his little animals, working in the hay field, splitting wood for his woodburning stoves, plowing snow or socializing with family and friends in the shop. He loved playing Euchre, shaking dice, auction sales and watching cowboys.
He is survived by his loving wife, Connie of 28 years, sons Wayne (Jeanette) and Terry (Bobbie) McClune; stepchildren Trevor, Neil, Dana (Jamie) and Jennifer (Gary) Larrabee; grandchildren Catherine Williams, Heather (Patrick) Hagge, Christina McClune, Ryan, Camie and Madisyn McClune, Michael Rezac, Tommy Jr. (Hayley) and Tabitha Bennett, Gerald and Maxwell Keyes, Amber Wusterbarth, Jocelyn (Colin) Lamoreau, Kaelyn and Madilyn Larrabee and Cody Johnson; great grandchildren Alexis Allen, Donna Trom, Wayne Jr. and Clarice McClune, Lux and Charlee Rezac, Brantley and Kaleb Bennett, Brycen, Brooklynn and Bayleigh Foechlich and Evelyn Lamoreau. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Tommy Bennett Sr. and many nieces and nephews who called him Uncle Jerry.
If you were lucky enough to know him, you have a great gift and are blessed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Annette Bennett; brother and best friend who lived with him, Harry as well as brothers, Thomas, Donald and Patrick McClune.
A celebration of life will be held in the McClune's shop on the farm located at 416 11th Ave NE, Waseca, MN on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 3-6 p.m. All are welcome.
Put those work gloves down and put the tractor in the shed, dad. We'll close the gate behind you.
