Gerald Ray McGown

In loving memory of Gerald Ray McGown, 74, of Henryville, Indiana, who passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 15, 2024. Gerald was a devoted husband of 49 years to his beloved wife, Sharon McGown. He was a loving father to his two children, Jill McGown-Davis (Ryan) and James McGown (Rebecca), and a cherished grandfather to Abby and Alex Davis, Oscar and Amelia McGown.
Gerald was born to Margaret "Jean" McGown and the late Robert McGown. He was also a dear brother to Gary McGown, Barbara Fulton (Conrad), Betsy Kiger (Danny), Patty Bucy (Chuck), and Richard McGown (Chris), and was loved by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
After high school, Gerald pursued his education at Lees-McRae College and Temple University on a football scholarship. Following an injury, he transferred to the University of Indianapolis, where he met his soulmate, Sharon Atherton. Gerald completed his academic journey at IUPUI, earning a degree in business.
Gerald's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. He had a deep passion for sports, both as a spectator and a participant, and found great pleasure in playing golf, pickle ball, and engaging in a competitive game of cards, particularly euchre.
A visitation to honor Gerald's life will be held at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville, on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 3-8 PM, with a funeral service at 7 PM that evening.
Gerald will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, but his memory will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
