Obituary of Gerald D. Monarch
Gerald Dwayne "Marty" Monarch, 87, of Plymouth, MA passed away on January 7, 2025 in Plymouth.
"Marty" was born in Battle Creek, MI to Leslie Franklin Monarch and Nellie O. Conley on August 9, 1937. He went to Battle Creek High School and graduated in 1955. He went into the Air Force after high school and was stationed at Otis AFB on Cape Cod. While stationed at Otis AFB he was given the opportunity to follow his passion of baseball and played for Otis in the Cape Cod Baseball League. He was also scouted by his favorite team, the Boston Red Sox. He worked as a Salesman for several companies including The Patriot Ledger and J.M. Fields. In his later years he was a bus driver for Plymouth Public Schools and Habilitation Assistance Corporation.
Marty is survived by his children, Terri Currier of Wareham, Shelley Pike of Wareham, and Doug Lauzon and his wife Elizabeth of Carver. His grandchildren; Drew Currier and wife Jessica of Plymouth, Abigail Vigneau and husband Gregg of Foster, RI, Jake Pike and his wife Cat of Onset, Andrew Lauzon, and Craig Lauzon of Carver, as well as four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his spouse Donna Morely Monarch, his parents Leslie and Nellie Monarch, his brother Norman Monarch, and his beloved grandson Adam Pike.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 14th at 10:00 AM at Plymouth County Cemetery, South Meadow Road, Plymouth.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.StJude.org.
