Gerald Newswanger Obituary
Gerry graduated from Garden Spot Senior High School in 1973. After High School, God transformed his heart and Gerry accepted the free gift of grace and salvation from Jesus. Shortly after, Gerry felt the call of the Holy Spirit to go into full time ministry. In obedience to this call, Gerry attended Lancaster Bible College (LBC) and graduated in 1981 with a degree in Pastoral Studies. During his time at LBC Gerry met the love of his life, Susan (Johnstone) Newswanger, and they were married in 1981. In 1982 they moved to Chicago so Gerry could attend seminary. Gerry graduated from Trinity Theological Seminary in 1988 with a Master of Divinity. For 3 years he shared the truth of the Good News of Jesus Christ as the assistant pastor of Feasterville Baptist Church. In 1991 he became the senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Wycombe, where he faithfully served for 30 years. Gerry was man of great sacrifice and loved his family and friends immensely. He enjoyed gardening, drinking good coffee, raising chickens, watching the Chicago Bears/Cubs, and baking with and for everyone.
Gerry will be dearly missed by his wife of 43 years, Susan Newswanger; children: Amy Elkins (Jay), Annie Gruver (Chris), Ashley Lloyd (Vince), and Andrew Newswanger (Amanda); grandchildren: Wyatt, Addie, John, Makayla, Josh, Gabe, Ryan, Charlie, Asher, Jack, Mason, Juliana, Justin, Noah, Ellie; siblings: Judy Noyes, Barry Newswanger, Sheryl Wright, Steve Newswanger, Kathy Newswanger, and Bryan Newswanger; dozens of nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends. Gerry was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Newswanger Jr., James Newswanger, and Lee Newswanger.
All are invited to visit with Gerry’s family on Wednesday, June 5th from 2:30pm to 3:30pm, located at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 6782 N. Main Street, Coopersburg, PA 18036. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gerry’s name to the Hananeel Ministries.
