He graduated from Raritan High School in NJ and went on to serve his country with pride & dedication in the United States Coast Guard for four years. After his time in the military, Rich married Linda S. (Kidd), with whom he shared 53 years.

Rich cherished his family deeply and is survived by five siblings: Jeffrey of Florida; Michael and wife, Kathy of New Jersey; Susan and husband James of South Carolina; Charles and wife, Judith of New Jersey; Allyson and husband Derek of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna (Carmany), in 2023 and two children, Crystal (Cordero) in 2010 and Eric Ervin in 2014.
Professionally, Rich dedicated his entire career to his role as a hazmat truck driver for Praxair, now Linde, where he was admired for his commitment and excellent driving record. He was the National Truck Driving Champion in 1991.
Beyond his career, Rich had a passion for classic cars, particularly Corvettes and Mustangs. His enthusiasm for automobiles was best showcased at the annual Corvettes at Carlisle auto show, an event he looked forward to each year with his son, Matthew, and brothers Chuck, Mike, Jeff, and grandchildren.
His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors. In his free time, Rich enjoyed keeping his vehicles meticulously clean and detailed as well as his lawn and landscaping. He enjoyed hunting as well as traveling to Florida and Aruba with his family for many years.
