Gerald L. "Jerry" Putnam, 80, passed away peacefully December 22, 2024 with his wife by his side. Born in Akron, Ohio to Duffy and Edna (Troutt) Putnam, he was a lifelong Akron area resident. Jerry graduated from Springfield High School in 1963 and he belonged to the Freemasons Blue Lodge as well as the Tadmor Shrine. He retired from General Motors, where he worked as a Pipefitter for 26 years. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, watching NASCAR, reading Western novels and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by 4 siblings. He will be sadly missed everyday by his wife of 47 years, Linda; children, Sharon Striglio (Mike Hedrick), Laura (Darren) McGlaughlin, Kelly Joyner, Brian (Christa) Carr; grandchildren, Sydney (Matt) Longo, Jordan (Kari) Carr, Jerry McGlaughlin, Brandon Carr, Rachel Carr; great granddaughters, Daisy Carr and Margaret Longo; sister-in-law, Cheri Newkirk; many nieces and nephews.
The family will have a celebration of Jerry's life at a later date.
