Gerald (Jerry) Henry Sanchez, 55, passed away peacefully December 8th, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. Jerry, born on June 19, 1969, spent most of his life on the Southeast side of Chicago before moving to Hegewisch with his beloved wife and highschool sweetheart Magdelena (Nena) with whom he shared over 20 years of marriage. Jerry was the eldest son to Lupe and Gerardo Sanchez and eldest brother to his siblings: Vincent Sanchez, Gloria (George) Hollendoner, Olivia (Orlando) Alvarez, Joseph and Sarah Sanchez. Jerry was a devoted father to Celia (Daniel) Nelson, Gerald (Jessica) Sanchez, Marina Sanchez and an amazing stepfather to Bianca and Olivia Cortes. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren Ezra David 2, Michael 1, and one on the way. Jerry was also a wonderful Uncle to: Brianna Sachez, Alexandria Hollendoner, Alyssa Hollendoner, George Hollendoner III, Arielle Alvarez, Leo Alvarez, and Nathan Alvarez.
Jerry was a proud graduate of Mount Carmel High School '87, who pursued a wide array of interests that matched his hard-working persona. Starting out at the City of Chicago Skyway, he found his niche as an impressive salesman at Quimex, and proud entrepreneur of his automotive detailing business where he helped grow the market for tire shine products. Jerry's vibrant personality and passion for people made him an exceptional storyteller and a natural in his profession. He created countless cherished memories with his children like constant adventures to downtown Chicago, bowling, vacations, and his playful and mischievous spirit. Jerry loved taking his kids to baseball games and entertaining them with his playful spirit. Moving to Hegewisch brought Jerry his happiest years, where he relished working in his yard, enjoying his pool, and hosting barbecues for family and friends. His home was always filled with laughter, delicious food, and the warmth of his kind heart.
Jerry will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, gave selflessly, quick to love and slow to anger. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and an endless devotion to family and friends. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered and honored.
