Gerald Howard "Jerry" Wolff

A funeral mass celebrating the life of Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Howard Wolff, Sr., age 84, formerly of Monroe, Louisiana, will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 3:00 P.M. at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Monroe, LA. Officiating will be Father Mark Watson. Services are under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe.
Jerry passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Suzanne Brown Wolff; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. V.A. Wolff; his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. John Ernest Brown; and two of his siblings Dr. James Russell Wolff (Patricia) and Mrs. Joan P. Clark (Mal).
Jerry is survived by his son, Gerald Howard Wolff, Jr. and daughter, Susan Wolff Snyder (Jim); grandsons; Gerald Howard Wolff III, Garrison Crain Wolff, Phillip Brown Snyder, James Hart Snyder; brothers, Lee Albert Wolff and John David Wolff (Carolyn). Other survivors are his nieces, Susan Wolff Herold (Charles), Linda Wolff Perry, Marcia Wolff Gsell(George) and Cindy Wolff Barnes (Jerry); and many other family members and dear friends. Jerry was blessed by his friendship with Nan McAdams Yost who brought him much joy and happiness in the last few years of his life. And to Michael Edward Lohan who was a devoted and loyal friend.
Jerry was born on December 31, 1937, to Victor Albert Wolff and Lillian Elizabeth Wolff, in the community of Oconamawa WI. He grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri where he lettered in basketball, baseball and football at Webster Groves High School. He was inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. Continuing with his sporting abilities, he attended Southern Methodist University on a basketball and baseball scholarship, graduating with a BBA. He also was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. While at SMU, he met his wife, the love of his life, Suzanne Brown Wolff. Jerry and Suzanne married on September 2, 1961, and had two children, Jerry Wolff, Jr. of Lake Providence and Susan Wolff Snyder of Shreveport. He served in the United States Army as a Tank Commander. Jerry began his career with Mobile Oil and they were transferred to Monroe where he was co-owner of John Myers Pump Service and had numerous other career ventures in his lifetime. "Papa", as he was affectionately called by his grandsons, was their greatest fan. He loved traveling to Shreveport and Dallas to follow them in whatever athletic activity they were involved in. Jerry loved hunting and anything sports related. Jerry converted to the Catholic faith and was devoted to Jesus the Good Shepherd Church of which he rarely missed Mass. Jerry and Suzanne loved entertaining family and friends in their home and at Lake D'Arbonne on many occasions. They enjoyed traveling with lifelong friends. Jerry was always the life of the party because he was a great storyteller and loved by all that knew him. His glass was always more than half full! He exuded a positive attitude in life no matter what hardships he may have faced which he displayed to the very end of his life.
Charles Herold, George Gsell, Jerry Barnes, Bob Brown, John Brown, Mark Brown, Charles Brown and Paul Brown will serve as pallbearers at a private family only graveside which were Jerry's wishes.
Memorials may be given in Jerry's memory to Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2510 Emerson Street, Monroe, LA 71201.
A reception for family and friends will be held at Bayou DeSiard Country Club following the memorial service.
