With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Gerrie Amelio, who left us
peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Gerrie lived a life defined by love, compassion, and
kindness. Whether it was through her unwavering devotion to family, her deep friendships, or
love for life, she brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.
She grew up with a natural ability to brighten any room. She had an open heart, was always
ready to lend a hand, listened with understanding, offered words of encouragement, carried
herself with grace, always saw the good in others and inspired those around her to do the same.
Gerrie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, godmother to many, and friend.
Her family was the center of her world and she did all things through love. She embraced every
role with passion and strength, imparting life lessons that will continue to guide and inspire us.
Her home was always a place of refuge, laughter, and love, where family and friends gathered
to create cherished memories. Gerrie, or "Nunny" was known for her comedic situations and
she created her own language known as Nunnyisms.
Gerrie found great joy in painting, birdwatching and photography, and was
always eager to share her interest with others.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert J. "Bob" Amelio; her children, Robert (Erin)
Amelio, Lisa (William) Stewart, and Diana (David) Matous; her sisters, Martha (late Michael) Rubino and the late Mary and Albert Amelio; beloved grandchildren, Mary Katherine Stewart, Adrianna, Antonio and Angelo Amelio; godmother to many.
Her legacy is one of deep connections, boundless love, and a life lived fully.
Though we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that her love and spirit live on in
each of us. She will be dearly missed, but we find peace in the fact that she touched so many
lives, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.
Family and Friends will be received at Simons Funeral Home, Inc. 7720 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh,
PA 15237 on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 5:00 pm- 8:00 pm. Thursday, April 10, 2025, from

What a beautiful tribute to such a lovely woman. Gerri fought her battle with such grace and she was blessed to have such a caring devoted husband and family to help her along the way. I know she was grateful. It was an honor to be a part of her care team. May she rest with the angels.
