Geraldine "Gerry" Floy Brown (née Mathews), age 97, passed away peacefully in her home on October 8, 2025 in High Ridge, Missouri. She was born on June 19, 1928 in Bourbon, Missouri; the fourth of six children born to Ashley Harrison and Della Mathews. She grew up alongside her siblings Bonnie, Maxine, Roger, and Rena Mae who will all miss her dearly; and her brother James "Bus", who preceded her in death.
She was married to James W. Brown on June 5, 1948 and was his loving, devoted wife until he passed away in 2013. She was the mother of Steven J. (Connie) Brown, Rebecca L. (Gil) Eike, Melinda J. (Nolan) Senn, and the late Craig A. Brown, who also preceded her in death in 2020. She was loved and adored by her many grandchildren: Brandon (Erin), Jeremy (Mandy), and Matthew (Tabitha) Brown, Daniel (Tamara) Brown, Deanna (Willie) Rice, Tyler (Rebekah) Matson, Emily (Adam) Alter, and James Inman; and great-grandchildren: Nathaniel (Alison), Zachary, Monica, Morgan, Daniel, David, Donna, Daisha, Dylan, Dagne, Malcolm, and Winry.
Geraldine loved the Lord and could be found every Sunday until she was no longer able in a pew next to her husband at Fellowship First Baptist Church in High Ridge. She led by example and filled many roles there as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, Nursery volunteer, and whatever else was needed.
Her life was spent building a legacy of love for everyone who knew her. The care she took in providing a warm, nurturing home for her family will echo for generations to come. Her welcoming, "come one, come all" way meant countless meals prepared and holidays hosted. She enjoyed tending her garden and sewing for her home and family. But her favorite hobby was searching for and restoring antiques. Even in her final weeks, she was busy working on various projects around her home. She truly had a gift for not just seeing, but creating beauty in everything around her. She will be truly and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the Funeral Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Missouri 63016. Interment will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill, Missouri.
