With deep sorrow and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Geraldine Davis, daughter of Joseph Hanley and Evein Davis, age 81, of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Geraldine departed this life on April 22, 2025, leaving a legacy of warmth, generosity, and love. Born on June 5, 1943, on the beautiful island of Nevis in the West Indies, Geraldine brought with her a rich heritage, a strong spirit, and a heart full of love. In her early adulthood, she migrated to St.Thomas, USVI, and then relocated to Long Island, where she worked for several years at Pilgrim State Psychiatric Hospital before transferring & retiring from Manhattan Psychiatric Center.
Geraldine was a gifted entrepreneur, best known for her famous ginger beer and homemade sorrel (B's Drinks and Tingz ). Her kitchen was always filled with the delicious aromas of her cooking - a place where love was measured in spoonfuls, and everyone was welcome. Whether it was a Sunday dinner or a holiday feast, Geraldine's food brought people together and made lasting memories. She loved to travel with her family to various Caribbean islands, Mexico, local travel like weekends on Newport, RI, and her favorite--an annual visit to Martha's Vineyard, where she once saw President Obama!
Geraldine was incredibly resilient - she was a 3x cancer survivor, a nurturer, a giver, and a beacon of kindness. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and her care extended far beyond her home, touching the lives of family, friends and neighbors throughout the community.
Geraldine's legacy lives on in the recipes she passed down, the lessons she taught, the home she built and left for her family, and the love she gave so freely.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Geraldine will be reunited with her beloved siblings: Vivian (Tita), Emmanuel (Ashton), Invis (Iris), Sylvia (Nina), and Jerome. She leaves behind her cherished siblings: Elvira, Yvette, and Babylon (Baps). Geraldine's legacy continues through her devoted children: Angela, Florine, Michael, and Earl, Jr. & daughter in law Renee, her treasured grandchildren: Shinair, Stanley, Jr., Mark, Jr., Justin, Loreal, Ethan, Erynn, and Evaan, and her adored great-grandchildren: Shariya, S'aNiya, and Tamya. She was deeply loved by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Geraldine was a Beloved the Mother of a friend, her Daugher Flo whom I call my Sister. I met Geraldine once, over 20 years ago, and she demonstrated such an impressionable benevolence and hospitality. May her gentle soul rest eternally in the Bosom of God Almighty while I pray for the love ones she left behind the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

Regards,

Steve
