It is with great sadness that the family of Geraldine T. Dolan announces her passing. Geraldine passed away quietly in her sleep on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 84.Geraldine was born in Chatham, Virginia to Marion and Catherine Taylor. She moved to Newport News in 1960 and married Francis Ralph Dolan. She worked at Hilton Cleaners and the CO-OP for 9.5 years. Following the birth of her youngest child, Geraldine started an in-home childcare, which she operated for 17 years. Geraldine was a member of Stevens Memorial Baptist Church for more than 50 years. While an active member, she volunteered her time and resources for the betterment of others and spreading the Gospel of Christ.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ralph; her oldest brother, Harold Taylor and her oldest sister, Nancy Guthrie. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Williams (Andy); son, James Dolan (Andria); five grandchildren, Ian Benner, Cheyanne Dolan, Hunter Dolan, Raven Lester, and Kelly Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Harper Benner, Riley Benner, and Peyton Johnson; sisters, Marie Chatman, Faye Osborne, Betty Kidd, and Linda Taylor and brother, Junior Taylor.
Geraldine will be sadly missed and forever remembered by friends, family, and many others whose lives were touched by her.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Celebration of Geraldine's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
