Geraldine Y Hanf

Gearldine Ann Yunich Hanf, cherished widow, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, 86, of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025 at Hope Hospice House. She was born to Michael J. Yunich and Bernice Gibala Yunich on January 24, 1939, in Cleveland, OH. Geraldine grew up in Cleveland, where she graduated from Rhodes High School. She also attended Kent State University and later worked at the Cleveland Public Library where she met her soulmate, Edward B. Hanf, in the Eastman Reading Garden. Geraldine and Edward were married on June 27, 1959 and enjoyed a wonderfully happy marriage of 58 years. She was an active member of the Berea PTA Council and Eastpark Elementary School PTA, serving as president for several years. She was a member of the Strongsville Garden Club and later in life worked at American Dream Builders, Inc. Gerry, as she was known to friends, loved reading; traveling; gardening; traveling; collecting shells and rocks; drawing and coloring, and spending time with her family and friends. Geraldine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward; parents Michael and Bernice Yunich, and her faithful companions, Taco and Star. She is survived by her son, Scott Edward Hanf; daughter, Holly Hanf McCord; son-in-law, James M. McCord, II, and two cherished grandchildren, Madison McCord Grabe; 27,(Andrew Grabe), and grandson, Connor James McCord; 21. She also is survived by her beloved sister, Kathleen Yunich Brown and brother-in-law, Kenneth Brown (nephews, Kenneth Brown III (Darrell Jackson), Kris Brown and niece Kelly Brown Grannis (Chad Grannis) and great niece, Charlotte Elizabeth Grannis and great nephew, Colton Grannis) and cherished brother, Michael Yunich (nephew, Michael Yunich). Gerry will be remembered for her kindness, love for her family and friends, artistic talent and creativity, and her smile and laugh which were gifts to everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Saint Michael Lutheran Church (3595 Broadway, Fort Myers, FL 33901) on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with a brief reception to follow in the cafeteria. Attendees are asked to please wear bright colors. The family has asked that any donations be made to Hope Hospice House, 1201 Wings Way, Lehigh Acres, Florida, 33936.
