Geraldine "Dean" Lendon

Geraldine was born on May 4, 1952, to the late Willie Nelson Willis and Mary Lynn Hobbs-Willis in Thomaston, GA. She was educated in the Wayne County Training School and graduated in the Class of 1969. She went on to attend Savannah State College, majoring in Early Childhood Development. She worked with Callie Dukes and the Wayne County Head Start Program, Georgia's Little Tots Kindergarten and Barbara Morgan's Kiddy College. She also worked for the Wayne County Board of Education as a substitute teacher.
Geraldine was a dedicated member of Morning Glory Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Smith. Dean, as she was affectionately known enjoyed watching Lifetime movies and gardening. She was once an active member of Rosa Wiggs Chapter of The Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and adored her only grandchild, Chloe. Her favorite saying was, "I ain't kiddin."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucius Lendon who she loved dearly; parents, Willie Nelson Willis and Mary Lynn Hobbs-Willis; aunts, Ruth Bell-Trice, Rebecca Trice; uncles, T.B. (Effie) Hobbs, Walter Hobbs, Alton (Fannie) Hobbs, Charlie Floyd (Mable) Hobbs; brother, Willie Nelson Willis, Jr.; sister, Mary Helen Willis-Fluker and a dear friend, Mary Brock McCallum.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Carlos (Nakisha) Duncan, Clarksville, TN, Lakelle Duncan, Jesup, GA; her only grandchild, Chloe Duncan, Clarksville, TN; sisters, Priscilla Rawls (Kelvin) Brooksville, MD; Mary Willis, Hollywood, FL; aunts, Christine Jordan, Chattanooga, TN, Minnie Hobbs, Columbus, GA; niece, Marianna Nicole Fluker Givens (Lamonte) Germany; great-niece and nephew, Kobe Elvington and Suviie Givens, Germany; nephew, Antwann Rawls, Brooksville, MD; bonus son, Mitchell Brown (Vanessa) Statesboro, GA; a special cousin, Rebecca Frazier (Al) Jesup, GA; Keith and Anne Moolenaar (like a son and daughter) Jesup, GA and many friends and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 5-7 at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 @ 11:00 a.m. at Morning Glory Missionary Baptist Church, 277 Boston Street, Jesup, GA.
Interment will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 8819 US-301, Glennville, GA 30427. Immediately following services (Promptly @ 1:00 PM).
Repast will be held at Morning Glory Missionary Baptist Church, 277 Boston Street, Jesup, GA 31545 following the interment.
