Mrs. Geraldine McLain Wilks, age 87, entered into rest on Sunday morning, June 23, 2024. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Friday, June 28, 2024 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Alvin Tolson and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Patrick Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wilks was born February 15, 1937 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Lonnie and Jeanette Rollins McLain. She was a life-long member of Patrick Presbyterian Church and the owner and operator of Dean’s Beauty Shop for over 30 years. Geraldine enjoyed working in her garden and cooking dinner for her family each Sunday. A delicious cook, Mrs. Wilks was known for her fried chicken and chocolate pies.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilks was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 65 years, William L. Wilks; son, Rodney Michael “Mike” Wilks; granddaughter, Kristie Wilks; and sister, Louise Lewis.
Survivors include her children, Tommy (Sherrille) Wilks of Patrick, SC, and Kaye Johnson of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Jessica Wilks (Richard) Moore of Patrick, SC, Katelyn (Justin) Beebe of Hickory, NC, and Zachary Johnson of Hendersonville, NC; great grandchildren, Gracie, Parker, Dalton, Kelsey, and Olivia; sister, Hazel (Tony) Harris of Mint Hill, NC; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Center Well Home Health and McLeod Hospice of Cheraw for the exceptional love and care provided to Mrs. Wilks and her family.
