There is no way to imagine the beauty of Heaven that God has prepared for us, but if it's our version of paradise then Christopher Howie Wilks, age 18 of Catlettsburg, KY, is on a beautiful lake shore located on the outskirts of Heaven.

Christoper, affectionately known as Howie, was born in the summer of 2007 on July 26th. Kevin and Jessica Hill had the blessing of calling him their son and watching him grow into the remarkable young man he became. Howie was adventurous and fearless and never missed the chance to jump off the rocks into the lake that he loved so dearly. Being on the water gave him peace,

Howie spent many hours fishing off the bank of his favorite pay lake. He enjoyed the thrill of a good hunt or being in the woods on an ATV, to say he was an outdoorsman is an understatement. The outdoors was home, and it was where he felt most comfortable. He was a funny kid with a sparky personality who could make anyone smile. His laugh was infectious, and his soul was old. He was always able to charm his way into the hearts of everyone around him.

Howie had an unwavering love for his family, especially his sisters Hannah and Bailey Wilks. He felt it was his responsibility to protect them at all costs. He was the Papaw Claude Wilks boy. Loyalty was virtue that Howie valued. If you were his friend, then you were his family. Howie was blessed with many young men of which he considered his brothers. One thing you could always count on is knowing exactly what it was that Howie felt passionate about. He always made his views known to others and stood firmly on his beliefs.

Though Howie's time on this earth was far too short, and he was taken from us on August 23rd, 2025, his presence was larger than life. He lived each day with courage, laughter, and a love that touched all who knew him. His adventurous spirit, protective heart, and loyal soul will continue to echo in the lives of his family and friends. While his earthly journey has ended, his story lives on in the memories we hold and the love he left behind. Until we meet him again, may his laughter ring across Heaven's waters and his spirit remain forever near.

A memorial service to honor the life of Howie will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Ponderosa Elementary School beginning at 2pm, with Pastor Mike Amos providing words of comfort. Friends and family members may visit from 12pm until service time.
