It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Geraldine Fahey Murphy of Palm Bay, FL on July 8, 2023.
Geraldine (Gerry) Fahey was born on February 10, 1942, in Albany, NY. She was the second of four children born to Thomas and Mary Fahey. Prior to the birth of her first child, Gerry worked as a proofreader for the state of New York. She became an avid reader and developed a love of painting. She and her husband of 59 years, Dan, moved from Albany to South Florida in 1972. Gerry and Dan were nomads at heart. Gerry always wanted to see what was beyond the horizon. As a result, they travelled extensively across the US and other countries. They relocated several times between New York, North Carolina, Gorgia and Florida.
Gerry supported her husband throughout their loving marriage. Together, they built several businesses, bought and sold real estate, and created a loving home. She was a beloved mother of three sons and a daughter. She ensured her children were well fed, clothed, and educated. Gerry was a devout Roman Catholic. She was a shining example of the faith to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Gerry is pre-deceased by her older sister Patricia Drag. She is survived by her husband, Daniel, four children: Daniel, Kevin, Sean and Eileen, seven grandchildren: Damian, Aidan, Gabriel, Logan, Megan, Keira, and Katie, brother James Fahey, and sister Alicia Maleski.
Gerry's Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am Friday July 14th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5330 Babcock St. NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905. With internment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 1422 Miller St., Palm Bay, FL 32905
Flowers can be sent to St. Joseph's Catholic church prior to the Funeral Mass. Suggested florist: All City Florist: (321) 768-8333 / (888) 768-8333All City Florist
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before, only better
infinitely happier, and forever we will all be one together in Christ
