Anna Carol Murphy, 83, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at her home with her family by her side. She was under the tender care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky. The Daviess County native was born July 5, 1942, to the late George Clary Jr. and Virginia Rummage Clary. Anna graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School with the class of 1960. She was a devoted wife and mother whose primary vocation was raising her five children. She was a talented seamstress who patched, altered, and made garments and curtains for her family and friends. Anna was also a faithful member of Precious Blood Parrish and was active in the church choir, RCIA, her prayer group, and bible studies. She loved growing flowers and being a homemaker and was a natural caregiver. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Anna was also preceded in death by her husband, George E. Murphy in 2020; her granddaughter, Falanne Harris; her siblings, George “Sonny” Clary and Cathy Morris.
Those left to cherish her memory include her five children, Oleta Taylor (Robert) of Maryville, MO, Richard Murphy (Pam) of Midlothian, TX, Rodney Murphy (Jo) of Spartanburg, SC, Allison Wright (Jeff) and Sara Murphy both of Owensboro; grandchildren, Sean Murphy (Rebekah), Bryson Young, Joshua Murphy, Hallee Murphy (Brandon Qualls), Rev. Luke Murphy, Robert Taylor (Sophie Holle), Anvil Murphy; two great-grandchildren, McKinzee Qualls and McKoy Qualls; two siblings, Sadie Clary and Beverly Roberts; brother-in-law, Steve Morris and sisters-in-law, Martha Miller and Linnie Clary.
