Geraldine O'Reilly (nee Staryos) who was affectionately known as Geri, passed away on June 28, 2025 at the age of 72 after an extended battle with cancer. She was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and a deep commitment to family. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. She was known for her kindness, generosity and unwavering devotion to family. She leaves behind her husband of over 40 years Richard O'Reilly (Rich) her sisters Lorise Graham (Michael Graham), Cheryl Santos (James Santos), and Michelle Marie Staryos.
She is remembered also by her three nephews Jarrod Graham, Matthew Graham (Jennie Graham) and Adam Graham (Kelly Graham), by her niece Sophie Rose Staryos as well as her eight great nephews and nieces: James, Georgia, Nate, Anna, Owen, Adam, Maeve and Patrick.
She is also remembered by her sister-in-law Mary (Russ), her nephews Russ, Paul and Edward and her brother-in-law Paul (Jan) and nephews Michael and Matt as well as her nephews Kevin and Steven.
A resident of Pembroke Massachusetts, Geri attended West Springfield High School and later received her BA from Westfield State University. An avid reader and enthusiast of libraries, Geri pursued a master's degree in library science at Cambridge College; following her graduation she was hired as an adjunct professor at Cambridge College. She also worked as a Library and Media Specialist at Davis School in Brockton and Dennet School in Plympton.
Geri was a grant writer for the Town of Pembroke successfully advocating for the creation of the open space now known as Tubb's Meadow. She was intimately involved in the development and building of the Pembroke Library that stands at the center of town. Among her many talents was a gift for creating jewelry. She deeply cared for animals and donated generously to charities and causes that supported the needs of animals.
A private celebration of her life will be held with the immediate family at a date to be decided. She was a devoted lover of animals and requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to animal shelters.
