Gerard "Rod" Barber, PhD, age 78, passed away on December 18, 2021.
Rod was a professor at the Kent School of Social Work for 34 years. He was a member of the ULARP retired group at U of L and St. Vincent DePaul at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Barber, children Bill Barber (Lisa Carrier), Betsy Thrush (Kerry), and Jennifer McClinton (Patrick), grandchildren Megan and Will Barber, Zee and Elle Thrush, and Erin and Abby McClinton and siblings Annie Nyborg and Bimi Herget.
A Celebration of life will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 21 at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY.
Visitation will be 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Tuesday.
In lieu flowers please feel free to make a donation to Church Venture www.churchventure.org or Bluegrass Center for Autism www.bluegrasscenterforautism.org.
Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes to Remember".

Condolences to the family. I remember Dr Barber well. I had several classes with him at Kent School. He was a excellent professor. I graduated May 2007. U of L lost a great teacher. Heaven bound professor.
