Gerard Andrew Doyle, (CMSG, USAF, Ret.) 77, of Peru, passed away 11:15 AM, Friday, January 2, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginian on March 31, 1948, the son of Luke James and Mary Frances Trissler Doyle. Gerard married Christine Petty on April 7, 1984, and she survives. Gerard served in the US Air Force for 26 years, retiring in 1995. His miliary decorations include the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Training Ribbon, the Air Force Short Tour Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, Combat Readiness Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Gerard was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and had the ability to fix anything and everything perfectly. He collected coffee mugs from locations of his numerous Air Force assignments. Gerard's culinary ability was known by all for his amazing coffee cakes. He enjoyed reading western or world history books, but most of all Gerard loved Christine, his "sweet girl." They were together for 41 years and he loved her with every ounce of his heart. Surviving in addition to his wife Christine is a son Bret Abella and his wife Araceli of Texas, a daughter Keri Bruggman and her husband Jason of California; a sister Rita Stark of Virginia, and grandchildren Viktoria (Brenton) Abella, Keerah (Brendan) Wareham, Kaylah (Cord) Nita, Cameron Nita, Autiahna Abella, Kane Bruggman, Mateo Abella, Indie Bruggman, and Cora Abella. Gerard will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Miami County Helping Hands.
