Gerard Lacroix

Gerard (Jerry) Lacroix, 73, of Newton NH, passed away peacefully on March 26 with family by his side after a decades-long battle with multiple sclerosis.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Kristy Lacroix, his daughter Whitney Liechti and her husband Steven of North Andover MA, daughter Jessica Cronin and husband Jamie of Danvers MA, daughter Stefany Pike and husband Dan of Rollinsford NH and son Ron Helve and wife Nancy Roy of Hampton NH. He leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Theo, Cole, Emily, Deven, Samantha and Sarah. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan, Joan and Jeanne and his brother Jim.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents Leo and Lois Lacroix of Plaistow..
Jerry lived a life dedicated to the service of others. Jerry joined the Navy in 1968, where he spent 4 years in Pensacola FL, repairing jet engines. Following the Navy, he earned a degree from Salem State University and became a 6th grade teacher in Nashua, NH. For decades, Jerry positively impacted the lives of hundreds of sixth graders who would all know him as their favorite teacher. Following his retirement from teaching, Jerry spent his time traveling with his family and dedicating his life to helping others. Jerry was heavily involved with the VNOC (Veteran's Northeast Outreach Center) in Haverhill for over 25 years, supporting Veterans in any way possible. He was sited by the governor of NH for his volunteerism. He was also honored by receiving the Champion for Children Award.
After accepting Christ, Jerry attended the First Christian Church in Newton. When that closed, he found a wonderful new church family.at the First Congregational Church in Kingston
Jerry's celebration of life, will be held at the First Congregational Church of Kingston at 6 Church St. on April 14th.
Calling hours are 10-12 upstairs, side entrance. Service will be in the sanctuary from 12-1/1:30. We encourage and ask for comments about Jerry's life. Lunch will follow the service. After lunch, the burial will be at Willow Grove Cemetery, 10 Whittier St in Newton.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Alzheimer's Association or the Veteran's Northeast Outreach Center in Haverhill.
