Gerda Christa (Koerner) Zervos, age 95 of Moundsville, WV died Thursday, February 15, 2024 in Wheeling Continuous Care Center, Wheeling, WV, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 17, 1928 in Eutin, Germany, the daughter of the late Paul F. and Elisabeth E. Strand Koerner.
She was a Lutheran by faith; an avid Steeler's and WVU fan; loved gardening and reading; was active in the PTA, where she was a life-time member and past 2 time president; and she loved animals and bird watching.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1967 by her husband, Peter N. Zervos, who was killed in a mining accident; and family friend, Larry Slonaker.
Survivors include her children, Edna J. (Stan) Walley of Steubenville, OH, Nick P. (Karen) Zervos of Glen Dale, WV, Mary Ann (Pat) Korsnick of Wheeling, WV, Michael P. (Rene) Zervos of Johnson City, TN, Crystal E. (John) Schafer of Chapin, SC, Matthew P. (Marie) Zervos of Canal Fulton, OH, and Ted P. (Shawna) Zervos of Moundsville; 13 grandchildren, Greg Walley, Dr. Erin (Dr. Michael) Yu, Dr. Pete (Melissa) Zervos, Pat (Stephani) Korsnick, George (Megs) Korsnick, Jon Michael (Ashley) Zervos, Matthew (Emily) Zervos, Christian Zervos, Teddy S. Schafer, Brian (Erin)Goode, Nicholas (Jordyn) Zervos, Michael Theodore (Gracyn) Zervos, and Zara and Zoe Zervos; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step-sisters, Gudren and Gabbie, and a cousin, Jenny, all of Germany.
A special thank-you from the Zervos Family to the caregivers at WVU Continuous Care Center. In addition our gratitude is extended to Kathleen Naegele, Cher Hoffman, and the Berisford's as well as all the many other friends and family who helped and loved our dear mother.
Service Change: A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Moundsville Country Club, 128 Country Club Rd., Moundsville starting at 1pm until 4pm.
Arrangements entrusted to Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, Moundsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marshall County Animal Shelter, 37 Animal Shelter Dr.., Moundsville, WV 26041.
