George W. Hatchard, 89, of Reese, Michigan, passed away on the morning of January 18, 2026.
George was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 3, 1936 to George E. and Amelia Hatchard. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and received a degree in Civil Engineering from Drexel University, where he was also a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
He served in the United States Naval Reserve for eight years, and was a member of the Seabees.
On April 23, 1977, George and Mary (Bader) were married in New Hope, Pennsylvania. They were married for 48 years, raising their family in Mount Pocono, PA, Jekyll Island, GA, and Reese.
He was a Registered Land Surveyor and a Professional Engineer, working in the building industry his entire life, and leading projects ranging from high-rise structures to residential developments. George's interests included aviation, woodworking, reading, and sports. He was active in Rotary International and the Boy Scouts of America. As a private pilot, he and Mary found and fell in love with Jekyll Island.
George is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Geoffrey (Jaime), Connie (Rick), Charlie (Erica), Donna, George (Libby), Joan (Billy), Margie (Mike), Maria (Steve), Lynn (Tim); his sister, Pat (Bill), sister-in-law Jan, brother-in-law Dale, brother-in-law Dave (Milinda); and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
George was predeceased by his parents, his brother Arthur, and his sister-in-law Nancy.
A private memorial will take place at a future date. Those interested in an expression of sympathy are encouraged to give to the charity of their choice in his honor.
