Gerri Herold Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thielen Funeral Home - MARINETTE on Dec. 12, 2025.
Geraldine "Gerri" Ann Herold
February 19, 1943 – December 10, 2025
Geraldine "Gerri" Ann Herold, a woman known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 19, 1943, to Pauline (Tamrack) and Bernard DuChateau, Gerri grew up in rural Green Bay, Wisconsin and was a proud graduate of Pulaski High School.
Gerri met the love of her life, Don J. Herold, and they were married in June 23, 1962 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership built on faith and family. Together, they celebrated 50 beautiful years of marriage before Don's passing in 2012-a milestone Gerri held close to her heart.
In 1976, Gerri and Don made Menominee, Michigan, their home, where they built lasting friendships and became active members of the community. Gerri worked for many years at D&N Savings Bank. She and Don were dedicated members of Resurrection Parish, serving at countless church picnics and later giving their time and service to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Gerri also served as Co-Chair of the annual Christmas Holiday Food Basket project- which filled her heart.
Gerri loved her family and friends dearly and always had a warm welcome to share. She was an excellent cook and found great joy sharing for those she loved. Her flower garden and swing were her happy place, offering her peace and serenity. She was one of the luckiest women following her mother Pauline, and never met a casino she didn't like. Christmas was her favorite holiday-a season that filled her spirit with joy and gave her the chance to share her love through her endless generosity, family gatherings, and treasured traditions passed down and now forward.
Her greatest joy, always, was her family. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Gary) Johnson, Palm City, FL, Lynn (Jim) Dufrane, Wrightstown, WI, and David (Christey) Herold, Menominee, MI; her beloved grandchildren, Ben (Megahn) Dufrane, Abby (Kory) Kodanko, and Jordan Johnson; and her adored great-grandson, Maverick Dufrane. In her closing note left for her children, "I love you all. Please always be there for each other. Love Mom. P.S. Back with my sweetheart!"
The family wishes to offer their deepest thanks to the many people who supported Gerri in her final years. Special gratitude is extended to lifelong friends Bob and Mary Young; Nancy and Randy Schneider; her brothers & sisters in law- Craig DuChateau & Linda Schultz, Allan and Donna DuChateau, also Jane Grathen, her personal hair stylist; her neighbor and friend Pat Stock and Debbie Organ, the compassionate team at Unity Hospice; and Father Jamie Ziminski for officiating her service. Their care and kindness brought great comfort to Gerri and her family.
