Gertrude R. Fleck

Gertrude R. Fleck, 84, of Granby and formerly of Suffield, beloved wife of the late Thomas Fleck, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at UCONN John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington. She was born October 22, 1940 in Munich, Germany daughter of the late Ludwig and Stephanie (Windfelder) Beer. Gertrude lived in Germany until the age of 9 before coming to the United States where she and her family settled in Agawam, MA. She graduated from Agawam High School and received her Associates Degree from Baypath Jr. College in Longmeadow, MA. Before retiring she worked as a paralegal for Atty. Alaimo and Cottone in Enfield. Gertrude was very involved with the Enfield Women's Club, where she had served as president. She was very generous with her time and was always giving to others. She particularly enjoyed traveling with her family, both locally and abroad. She is survived by her two children, Deborah Fleck-Roy and her husband, Douglas of Granby, Andrew Fleck and his wife, Carla of Suffield; a sister, Veronica Pirani of MA; a brother, Hans Beer of MA; and nephews Geoffrey Merrill of MA., Christopher Merrill of CA; and a niece Hilary Merrill of CA. She was predeceased by a sister, Rosmarie Merrill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford.
