John S. Nielsen: April 16, 1933 – December 27, 2024
The time has come for me to leave this place and move on to the next part of my journey which started on April 16, 1933. I came to be the son of Arthur and Emily (Stafford) Nielsen and a sister of Barbara. Could not ask for a better family, but as I grew older I could come up with some bumps in the road. All and all it had been a good run. Went through the school years in Hartford and then into the Air Force and saw a lot of this world on a great flight crew on a SA-16 and the big boy B-29. Do not regret any of it. Came out of the service and got married, now that was a bump in the road but after some time single I came up with a girl named Judith. We had 3 dates and got married and spent the next 39 years together. We did everything together, Judith was a nurse and spent a lot of time in school that added so much to her career but then she came down with ALS and we spent close to 4 years fighting it the best we could until God called her home. I spent 45 years in the service end of the auto business industry in management. Did very well and proud of it all.
I leave behind 2 very special people who have been a family to both Judith and I for many years, Ken and Penny Roskin, and Ken and Jan Myers. I also leave behind a sister-in-law, Cheryl Kata and her husband, John, a brother-in-law, Gary Irzyk and his wife, Sue. I also leave behind a niece, 2 nephews, a son, and a grandson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM at West Suffield Congregational Church, 1408 Mountain Rd, West Suffield, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to West Suffield Congregational Church, P.O. Box 26, West Suffield, CT 06093. To leave on-line condolences please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com
