It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Gertrude (Trudy) Gober on August 25, 2024, at the age of 98. Trudy was a beloved Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.
Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, on December 15,1925, to Joseph and Mary (Ulichney) Puhy, Trudy was the youngest of six children. There, she met the love of her life, John. At the time, he was headed off to serve in WWII but told her he would be back to marry her. He did, and they were married just shy of 60 years. Together they moved to Lancaster, NY, built their home, and raised three children. They traveled to many parts of the world. Her special place was their summer home on Canandaigua Lake.
Trudy's faith was a big part of her life. Together, she and John would volunteer, organizing and chairing events for their church and the Knights of Columbus.
She was a wonderful cook and baker, she loved her garden, and especially feeding the many birds who would flock to her feeders. She was an avid bowler, with her league team winning a state championship.
Trudy also loved playing bingo, doing puzzles, and winning on a scratch off ticket. She loved listening to music, had a beautiful voice, and would sing whenever the occasion arose. She especially loved her five o'clock "wine time".
But most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Trudy is survived by her children, John (Paula), Deborah Gober-Beneze, and Trudie Kirshner (Ron); her grandchildren, John (Whitney), Paul, Lauren Kirshner (fiancé John T. Foley), Brandon Kirshner (Ciara), step granddaughters, Heather Fry (Jeff), and many great grandchildren.
All who met Trudy would remark on what a special lady she was. Her smile and sense of humor remained with her until the end.
We will forever miss her zest for life, listening ear, and the prayers she said for all of us.
