Mrs. Gertrude G. Parent, 83, of Berlin, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. She was born in Berlin on October 29, 1940 the daughter of the late Roland and Grace LePage. A graduate of Notre Dame High School class of 1959, she went on to work for Converse and Granite State Rubber for several years. She married Paul Parent on October 29, 1966 and together they raised four children. Gertrude worked in various positions in the community, including the meat department at Butson's Supermarket, managing apartments for Evergreen Management Co., and later for AV Home Care Services. For many years, she was an active volunteer at the Guardian Angel Thrift Shop. She loved playing Bingo, an avid reader, word searches, camping, going to the beach and spending time in the sun, playing cards and above all spending time with her children and her grandchildren.
Family includes her husband Paul Parent of Berlin; her four children: Michael Parent and wife Joanne of Berlin, Michele Hudson and husband Kevin of Dunnellon, FL, Brenda Parent of Gorham and David Parent of Gorham; cherished grandchildren: Jaylan, Jordan and wife Dagny, Justin, Jamielee, Gabe, Emily and “granddog” Bob; her siblings: Rita Mortenson of The Villages, FL and Louise Dupuis of Virginia; several nephews and nieces and a very close friend Jackie Duclose. She was predeceased by four siblings: Roland Jr., Theresa, John and Pauline.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 10am at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin with interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan. Relatives and friends may call on the family on Sunday, Aug. 4th from 2-4pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Those who wish may make a donation in Gert's memory to a charity of their choice. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.
