Gial F. Kaegi
September 1, 1930 - June 7, 2021
Wichita, Kansas - Gial F. Kaegi, 90, of Wichita, KS, passed away June 7th, in the company of his daughters, in Wichita, KS. Gial, was born in Newton, KS, on September 1st, 1930, as the second son of Clayton Christian and Erma Ina (Stuart) Kaegi.
Gial, was an Army Veteran of the German Occupation during the Korean War. He was employed at Boeing for 31 years. Gial volunteered thousands of hours at the KSU John C. Pair Horticultural Research Center where he and his wife, Margaret, created the Kaegi Educational Walkway, furnished the Educational Center and were benefactors to the KSU Foundation. At Botanica they also donated thousands of volunteer hours. He helped construct the Butterfly House and Garden, worked to maintain the Shakespeare Garden and other notable areas of Botanica. He gifted the Chinese Cherry Blossom Mosaic in the Chinese Garden of Friendship to his wife's memory. He and the love of his life, Marge shared many adventures together while traveling the world. He is survived by his children, Gail Haywood-Tucker (Greg Tucker), Wichita; Grant Kaegi (Tami), Lenexa; and Chris Kaegi-Stephens (William Stephens), Valley Center. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Megan Leiker (Patrick), Leawood; John Kaegi (Amanda), Hesston; Rachel Green (Daniel), Prairie Village; and 8 great-grandchildren. Gial was preceded in death by this parents; wife, Marge; brother, Stuart; and beloved grandson, (K.C.) Kyle Clark Haywood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Broadway Mortuary at 1147 S. Broadway St., Wichita, KS 67211, for choice of either Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, and/or KSU John C. Pair Horticultural Research Center.
A private family service will be held in Moundridge, KS, at a later date.
