Gilbert Theophilus Bremicker Jr, age 93, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully Thursday August 7, 2025.

He was born March 7, 1932, to Gilbert T & Emogene (Knudsen) Bremicker in Berwyn, Il

Gil was a proud graduate of the University of Montana (Go Grizzlies) where he met his wife, Kathryn. During and after college, he served in the Army & Reserves. After his service he went to work for Boeing in Seattle WA. After a few years, he changed professions to City Administration, where he worked as City Manager for Normandy Park WA, Bloomington MN and Blaine, MN. In 1976 he accepted a job in Cherokee Iowa as their first City Administrator and retired there in 1997. During his retirement, he was a substitute teacher for the Cherokee High School which he loved and did until he retired at the age of 80. He also served on the Siouxland Economic Development Board. He was an active member of the many churches that he attended, serving as Deacon, Elder and teaching Sunday School. He was also an active member of the church choir.

Gil will be remembered for his goodness, kind heart and willingness to help others. For his love of history, especially Lewis & Clark, Chief Dewey Beard (whom he met as a child) and mostly family history.

He is survived by his wife Kathy of 69 years: daughter Stephanie, son Douglas (Angi): grandchildren Mary, Jennifer, Michelle, Eric, Rachel, Irie and their spouses: 7 great grandchildren: his sister Kristen Bremicker and sister in law Patricia Bremicker.

Visitation will be held at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, OH September 5, 2025, from 4 – 7 PM. The funeral will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Maumee September 6, 2025, at 10:00 am. Internment will be in Cherokee IA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
